Several achievement of Jim Larkin

Jim Larkin was born in Liverpool, and that is on January 28th, 1874. His family was not that wealthy that’s he grew up in the slums of Liverpool. When it came to education, Jim Larkin had a very little formal training. So that to be able to help his family financially he worked in different jobs at the time of his youth. Eventually, he got the position of working at the Liverpool docks as the foreman. Being at Liverpool docks gave him a chance of seeing how workers were being treated. With that, he became a committed socialist who had seen how the workers were being treated, and he didn’t like it. He became a member of the National Union of Dock Labourers (NUDL), and he became an organizer full-time, and that was in 1905.

After the militant strike and they alarmed the NUDL, he had to run for his safety, and he went to Dublin in 1907. In Dublin that is where he founded the Irish Transport and General Workers Union. The reason why he came up with the organization is so that he will be able to combine the skilled, unskilled and Irish industrial workers into one organization. After that, he went on to form the Irish Labor party. The reason for coming up with the party was so that they will help in leading the strikes. There was one strike that they lead that was significant, and it’s the one that happened in 1913 that was the Dublin lockout, in the strike there were over 100,000 workers that participated. The result that they got in the strike is that they won, though it had to happen after eight months.

After he won the Dublin Lockout, it was time to travel, and he moved to the United States in 1971 where he was to attend the lecture tour and come up with funds that will help in fighting the British. He joined a socialist party of America during his stay in America, and he joined the industrial workers too. What triggered the founding of James Connolly sociality club, was when his friend James Connolly was short.
